In a country like Bangladesh, Community Radio can be an effective platform to raise the voices of the poor, to enhance people’s capacity of claiming the legitimate rights and to eradicate discriminations. It also reveals the local cultures and customs to other people especially the outsiders. Community radio can play a vital role at the grassroots level for rural development. For instance, issues related to poverty, agriculture, gender inequality, education, social problems among others could be the focus for regular programming. COAST Trust under the Climate Change and Adaptation project organized school based campaign on climate change in different schools of Manpura Upzila. These sessions helped to raise awareness about the impact of climate change and climate adaptation among the students and the teachers. Apart from this, it is expected that they will share the learned issue with their family members and their surroundings. The campaign materials included basic information about the climate change and its impact, chalalnegs of Manpoura, how to do to ensure climate adaptation etc.

A workshop titled “Visual Communication & Reporting through Online” held on February 14, 2017 in Monpura a remote island of the Bhola district. The workshop was organised by the “Children on frontline: Advocacy and Adaptation on the impact on the Climate Change project of COAST Trust which is funded by UNICEF. Selected 30 participants (age limit of 12 to 18) took part in that two days long workshop. Din Muhammad Shibly a documentary Photographer and consultant of COAST facilitated the workshop. About 30 adolescents from Manpura participated in the Youth Conference on Climate Change recently held in Barisal, Bangladesh. UNICEF organised this Conference in Barisal during 11-12 February 2017 under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner of Barisal. The Department of Environment, Youth Net for Climate Justice, Barisal University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, and national and international NGOs were coorganiqzers of the event. The two day events placed a declaration which includes youth concerns in the impact of climate change, their specific demands and they action plan.
