Who We Are

We are a national NGO, COAST Trust, an independent, non-profit, and progressive coastal NGO in Bangladesh and are running this project “Children on the Frontline: Advocacy and Adaptation of the impact of Climate Change” funded by UNICEF.

UNICEF Barisal Field Office has undertaken an initiative to work on climate change issue at Monpura Upazila under Bhola district, which is an island and most vulnerable for cyclone, tidal surge, flood, water logging, and river erosion. The project will facilitate the adolescent advocates in arranging campaign and events at the local and national level.

COAST has the special consultative status of UN ECOSOC. It has affiliation with several international organizations like Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (www.hapinternational.org). Currently COAST has partnership with Action Aid Bangladesh, European Union, Manusher Jonno Foundation (DFID), Oxfam Great Britain, United Nations Children’s Fund, Stromme Foundation (NORAD)-Norway.
COAST’s main objective is to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the poor and vulnerable coastal people through its intervention like micro finance and technical support, disaster risk reduction, Social Justice, primary health care, non-formal education etc. It has also a linkage between local level and policy level advocacy. It is engaged with policy level advocacy and campaigning with its advocacy wing EquityBD (www.equitybd.net). Detail about COAST Trust can be found in www.coastbd.net.
